About the Author

Robert Lawson (1892-1957) was an award-winning storyteller who wrote and illustrated more than fifty books for children. The first author-illustrator to win both the Newbery and Caldecott medals, he is best known for Ben and Me, Mr. Revere and I, Rabbit Hill, and They Were Strong and Good. His last completed work was The Big Wheel.
