About the Author
Sonja Vernes is a graduate of the University of Oxford. Now chair in biology at the University of St. Andrews, she researches the genetic and neurobiological bases of animal communication and the origins of human speech and language. She has been honored by the Blavatnik Awards and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. She lives in Scotland.
